Pratt City is a neighborhood located in the northwestern area of Birmingham, Alabama. It holds a significant place in the history of the city and has gone through various stages of development and revitalization.

Named after industrialist Daniel Pratt, who established a cotton gin factory in the area in the early 1800s, Pratt City was initially a small industrial town with a strong focus on manufacturing and production. Over time, the neighborhood grew and became a thriving community with a diverse population.

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Pratt City saw significant growth due to the establishment of coal mines and the expansion of the steel industry in Birmingham. This led to an influx of workers and immigrants into the area, contributing to its cultural and economic diversity.

In 2011, Pratt City was hit by a devastating tornado that caused widespread destruction and loss of life. Today, Pratt City is undergoing a renewal, with efforts to restore and improve the neighborhood’s infrastructure, housing, and amenities.
